The Heartbeats
There are at least two bands called The Heartbeats:
1. The Heartbeats were a 1950s American doo-wop group best known for their song A Thousand Miles Away, which charted at #53 in 1957. Formed in the mid-1950s in Jamaica, Queens and originally called The Hearts, they switched in 1955 when a female group by the same name scored a minor billboard hit. They were signed shortly after James "Shep" Sheppard joined the group, and were shuffled between various production companies over the next few years. The group split up in 1959, and Sheppard later went on to start Shep & The Limelites.
2. The Heartbeats were a psychedelic 'Mod' trio from Orpington, Kent, United Kingdom (1979-1982), who recorded their one and only single in 1981: 'Go' became a cult hit during the Mod revival of the early 1980s in the U.K. Read more on Last.fm.
