The House Band
There are at least two bands called "The House Band"
1. The House Band was formed in Edinburgh in 1984 and released only one, eponymous, album. The line up was: Ged Foley (vocals, guitar, Northumbrian smallpipes, mandolin); Roger Wilson (vocals, fiddle, guitar); Chris Parkinson (vocals, harmonica, accordion, melodeons); John Skelton (flutes, bombardes, whistles). Additional personnel: Bernie Nau (piano, keyboards); Mark Hellenberg (bodhran, dumbek, shakers, log).
Some of the members later went on to form The New House Band.
2. The House Band was formed at 11 Vancouver Street, Boston in the mid sixties (and may have existed as early as 1925 in various forms). They started as a folk/pop conglomeration at the Gamma Phi Kappa Fraternity House at Northeastern University and early jammers included J. Geils (founder of the J. Geils Band, the house also was the inspiration for their hit "House Party")
The House Band continued on in various forms including Punk, Jazz, Experimental and eventually back to Folk, Country and jamming style of music. The informal group exists to this day, recording and playing in Boston Massachusetts. Recordings can be found on the VeeVille Volumes Series. Read more on Last.fm.
