The Little Stevies
The Little Stevies are a band from Melbourne, Victoria that formed in 2006.
Luscious three-part harmonies soaring above striking melodies and catchy guitar hooks is the sound of Melbourne pop-darlings The Little Stevies. Each song's a story you'll want to hear again, as the personalities of all the band members come shining through. Cheeky, charming, moving.
When The Little Stevies released their debut EP ‘Grow Up’ in 2006, it wasn’t without a sense of irony. Their first national release marked their 22nd year as an artistic unit – even if the first three of these were spent in diapers.
Founding members, sisters Sibylla and Bethany and their life-long friend Robin, did indeed grow up together, the offspring of two musical families whose members once formed part of an ARIA-winning pop band in the 1970s. It’s their long history of collaboration coupled with their relatively young age that makes their sound unique: exquisite three-part harmonies that soar above terrific pop melodies and catchy guitar hooks. Since 2008, their sound’s been expanded and matured by the band’s newest member, multi-instrumentalist Josh Barber on drums and percussion.
Over the last four years The Little Stevies have built up a reputation across Australia as an exceptional live act and attracted an army of loyal fans won over by their honest charm, witty banter and, not least of all, unique song-writing. Their lyrics are a mixture of the personal and the profound, each song a story that audiences are always keen to hear retold.
In 2009 The Little Stevies released their debut album Love Your Band. On the back of this widely praised work, the band have gone from strength to strength, wowing festival audiences, selling out major venues and, more recently, being invited to showcase at the International Folk Alliance Conference in Memphis, Tennessee in February 2010. The music video for 'Sunshower', the first single from Love Your Band, has been nominated for an Inside Film Award, and the band recently released a short film to accompany their latest single 'Dink You', featuring the band circumnavigating the globe by bike.
