The Lucy Nation
The artist's first and only album, On, was recorded and produced in 1999 at Hook End Studios in Berkshire, England. The band's only two members were Anna Nyström, from Sweden, and Andy Cousin, from Great Britain. Cousin was in a band called 'All About Eve'.
The only song ever released from the album was a song titled "Alright", which appeared on the soundtrack for Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me - Maverick Records decided not to distribute the rest of the album.
Although Anna and Andy took care of vocals, guitar, and bass, it was actually Marius de Vries who programmed, synthesized, and produced the music, thus creating the unique, experimental backdrop for Anna's sweet, floaty voice. The original recordings were unrecognizable compared to the finished versions by de Vries.
Marius de Vries is responsible for the synthesizing and programming of several artist's work, including three of Björk's solo albums, the single 'Frozen' by Madonna, Annie Lennox's 'Medusa' and 'Diva' albums, Massive Attack's 'Protection' album, and also co-wrote, co-produced, and programmed the BAFTA-winning score and soundtrack for the 1997 movie Romeo + Juliet.
