The Rumour
The template for many pub-rock bands, The Rumour were the backing band for Graham Parker but they issued at least one album without him. They played an eclectic mix of rock, swing, country, reggae and what used to be called R&B.
The band were Bob Andrews, Martin Belmont, Andrew Bodnar, Stephen Goulding and Brinsley Schwarz.
They sounded like they did with Graham Parker but with less edginess. The style was like Brinsley Schwarz and Ducks Deluxe which isn't surprising as some of the members were in these bands too.
Their first album was Max (pun on Fleetwood Mac's Rumours) which contained self-penned songs as well as songs written by friends such as Nick Lowe and Sean Tyla. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
