The Sound Explosion
1) The first Sound Explosion were a garage group from Athens, Greece. The debuted in 1993 with the "Hangover Baby" single, followed by their only album in 1994. This album was vol. 14 in the German "Teen Trash" series. Their fourth and final single came out in 2000.
2) The second Sound Explosion, now shortened to The Sound Ex are a band from Newcastle upon Tyne, England. They combine fast rock n roll, blues and punk to form an upbeat, raw and energetic sound.
Their live shows have gained much respect in the music community for their thrashing limbs, occaisional ventures into the crowd and screeching feedback.self-titled debut album was released in March 2005 on the Durham based inde label Captains Of Industry. When the band were all 20 years of age, The Sound Explosion co-headlined The Nokia New School Of Rock Tour with The Answer and The Tokyo Dragons. The band have also toured with The Datsuns, Hell Is For Heroes, The Mooney Suzuki, International Noise Conspiracy, Million Dead, The 5678's and The Glitterati.
Early 2005 brought a headline tour, a pilgrimage to Dublin, a brainstorming session with Gordon Raphael (who recorded the B-side to Apollo entitled Let It Turn Inside Itself), and plenty of positive reviews from the press. After releasing their debut single "Apollo" in November 2005, The Sound Explosion signed to Red Ink, Sony in January, and completed recording their second album with Paul Reeve in October 2006.
