The Understudy
MUSIC FOR PEOPLE WHO THINK TOO MUCH
The Understudy is Lucy Hearn, or the music of Lucy Hearn, or both. Lucy has been a songwriter since her thoughts turned coherent. She writes on guitar and piano, and sings.
In August 2007, Lucy hopped a plane to Ithaca, NY, where she lived for three weeks recording her debut album, What Not To Think While In Love. It was made with old friends, New Neighbors, in the band members’ summer vacation from college. Most of this happened at other people’s houses, some on the very same streets where Nabokov wrote Lolita. The end result steps from wry, winking pop to minimalist folk and back again--an omnibus of found sounds, inky guitars and hand-puppet piano. Read more on Last.fm.
