Tolcha
The sound of TOLCHA might be described as a blend between electro, dub, downbeat and experimental elements. Though most of the songs are good to dance to, they consist of complex structures inviting the listener to take place between the speakers.
Now, who are these 4 guys from TOLCHA?
With the exception of Le Lars all band members come from the north of Berlin, an area where famous characters such as "Alec Empire" from "Atari Teenage Riot" have their origin. Le Lars is computer nerd and drummer at the same time.
Together with Smiller(E-bass, double-bass, electro) and Rasda (Percussion, Melodika, Live-Dubbing, Netartist: www.tolcha.de) he formed the band "Hi8Clockers", which focused on samples from soundtracks. 3 months after the start of TOLCHA Shir Khan joined the band. Since then he has become an expert in sampling and is the live-dj of TOLCHA. He was involved in several guitar bands playing punkrock and emo, is tour-dj for hip hop activists and is also known as a radio-dj - right now he can be heard on Berlin's only pirate station "Twen Fm" where he presents his homemade bastard pop-tunes every sunday.
Last but not least, TOLCHA offer a wide spectrum of many musical styles fused together.
During their shows they present selfmade video clips, mainly shot by Smiller, which can be understood as an own interpretation of their music. Therefore, TOLCHA is moreover visualized music. However – these 4 cool motherfuckers from berlin definitely kick ass – for sure!
