Tony Lionni
Born Liverpool England 36 years ago. Gained an interest in music of black origin through my father who bought and occasionally dj´d....soul-disco and jazzfunk records and took me diggin for records with him from the age of about 8 years old in liverpool. First records at the age of about 7 were Say it loud black and proud by James Brown, War of the worlds and probably a stevie wonder album. Started diggin in the racks of my fathers records at the age of 14 around 85 when Hip hop was popular looking for breaks and taking regular trips to manchester Spin Inn records, the underground market and rods record shop in Afflecks Palace buying Hip Hop, House and Uk street soul. Frequenting clubs like 52nd street, Legends, The Hacienda, and The gallery on friday nights......from the age of 16.....Going to soul all nighters..The glory days of Manchester before being overpopulated by corporate companies and fashion followers. Hip hop shaped my future musical direction being down with a crew from manchester Old Trafford called The rebels in Effect who supported Soul to Soul in Manchester while they were still an underground club group, This got me involved in frequenting the many then well know studios around manchester in the late 80´s early 90´s which saw birth to the Madchester scene which greatly overlooked the importance of the black communities input into the development of Manchester as a music capital.......Those in the Know who where there understand what iam Saying!. Later worked at important clubs like The Dry Bar/Factory records, Home Nightclub, Club South. Dj´d at most clubs and bars in manchester playing rare groove, salsa, deephouse........etc. Signed to Versatile records, Wavetec records and Mulemusiq.. Read more on Last.fm.
