Tristão da Silva
Manuel Augusto Martins Tristão da Silva (Lisbon , Portugal , 17 July 1927 - 10 January 1978 ), better known as Tristão da Silva, was a Portuguese fado singer.
Tristão started his career in 1937, when he was just 10 years old, at the Mondego Café, in Lisbon.
He opposed the Salazar regime, but was never arrested for that and his success has never been affected by his political beliefs. He emmigrated to Brazil in 1961 and lived there until 1965, when he returned to Portugal. During this period in South America, he perfomed in Bolivia, Chile , Paraguay, Argentina, Uruguay and Peru. He died in 1978, in a car accident.
