Tuure Kilpeläinen
Tuure Kilpeläinen (born 1970, Uusikaupunki) is a Finnish singer-songwriter best known for songs Valon pisaroita, Pelko pois and Eloon!, performed as Tuure Kilpeläinen ja Kaihon Karavaani . Other earlier favourites include Vesitornin varjossa, Lusikat laatikossa and Holtiton sydän.
A few of his early 1990's songs were reworked for the debyt album by Jonna Tervomaa in 1998. Around the same time he made his recording debut as front man and main songwriter in the band Luksus. After the short lived Luksus Kilpeläinen released his first solo album Tuure Kilpeläinen in 2003. His second solo album Just was released in 2005 and third album Kysymyksiä sudelle in 2006. These classic-singer-songwriter-influenced solo albums were acclaimed by critics and helped gain a small but devoted following, however he was yet to achieve mainstream solo success.
After a hiatus he returned as Tuure Kilpeläinen ja Kaihon Karavaani, releasing the album Valon pisaroita in May 2010. This time mixing sounds from Finnish popular music and folk rock with latin and other world music rhytms, it was a melancholy yet danceable record, and his ticket to mainstream commercial success in Finland.
He has enjoyed continuing success with the albums Erämaa (2011) and Afrikan tähti (2012). His new album Käpälikkö will be released in 2014.
He is also known for writing material for other successful Finnish pop artists including Jonna Tervomaa, Jippu and Vuokko Hovatta.
Kilpeläinen has also contributed in children's music and religious albums.
His musical influences include artists such as Bruce Sprinsgsteen, Bob Dylan, David Bowie and Tom Waits. Kilpeläinen sings in his native language, Finnish. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
