In 1987, a profound sense of spiritual blooming advance was essential for Mata Urmila Devi to meet His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. This was an event that was to dramatically change her life. Under His leadership, she studied Indian philosophy with focus on the Bhagavadgita and Vedanta. That spirituality, so fundamental to her being, flowered under his guidance.

Since her childhood days, her father would take her to the banks of the Ganges to listen to intellectual and spiritual discourses from India's greatest spiritual saints and sages such as Swami Brahmananda Saraswati, Swami Sivananda and Anandamayi Ma among others. Generosity and compassion were her father's codes of conduct as he was inclined to charity and was an active agent of social welfare. This generosity was a legacy that Mata Urmila Devi was to inherit. Surely, the seeds of knowledge planted over the years of her childhood continue to blossom and bear fruits.
