Winter Gloves
Winter Gloves is a Canadian indie rock band. Based in Montreal, Quebec, the band consists of Charles F. on vocals, Wurlitzer and organ, Vincent Chalifour on synth bass and keyboards and Patrick Sayers on drums.
The band came about after Charles F recorded a number of synth pop songs as a break from the guitar rock he was making with the Quebec City band Lady Grey. The songs were not meant for release as an album or for a permanent band, but simply as a fun project to post to his Myspace page — however, he decided to put the band together after getting positive feedback. Their first release, the EP Let Me Drive, was initially distributed solely by throwing copies into the audience at their live shows, but was later released on Paper Bag Records and iTunes, where the title track was featured as a Single of the Week.
The band followed up with their full-length debut album, About a Girl, in 2008.
The albums were supported by tours with Tokyo Police Club, Thunderheist and You Say Party! We Say Die!, as well as performances at the Virgin Festival, the Osheaga Festival and SXSW. About a Girl's lead single, "Factories", reached #1 on CBC Radio 3's The R3-30 chart the week of November 27, 2008. Read more on Last.fm.
