Xan
There are at least two artists with the name Xan.
1. A Vancouver-based DJ (active from 1998 to present)
2. A Seattle-based electronica/electro artist (active since 2015 to present)
1. Amadou Isaacs / Xan, is a Vancouver based sound guerrilla who draws his inspiration from the vibrant Canadian music scene. Dj'ing since 1998 he was inspired in the late nineties with the bionic sounds of
Drum and Bass as purveyed by acts like LTJ Bukem, Kosheen and Mampi Swift, and started the Deepspace lab sessions, a monthly immersive art/music happening.
More recently it has been act like Mylo and Bookashade that have influenced his production style but the raw basslines still make themselves known. Xan's first EP: The Adolescence of Mars features a number of artistic collaborations, including vocalists Leah Martin and Justine Ross, who deliver delicately crafted, darkly beautiful songs over viciously dirty & infectious rhythms.
His musical efforts have been featured on several radio broadcast such as CBC Radio 3 and college radio stations such as CiTR's long running Shadow Jugglers, as well as performing at large outdoor electronic festivals such as Shambhala. His first music video "A Black Night" was animated by Crystalbeard Collective artist Ben Jacques.
With many projects on the go and brimming with ideas, enthusiasm and a fistful of musical know how, Xan is one to watch.
2. A nomadic electronica artist called Xan has traveled the American landscape for years, but can now be found hailing from Seattle. He has been tinkering away in the musical labratory throughout his years of wandering. Read more on Last.fm.
