Yee-King
Matthew Yee-King was born in 1975. He went to secondary school (11-18) with other Rephlex etc artists Tom Jenkinson (Squarepusher) and Jordan Muscott (Railway Raver). In a band with these two as well as Graham Gatheral (later in a duo with yee-king called Bavin) and James Stephenson (Chungking + Sam Sparrow), he learned to play drums. He also began to compose electronic music with his Amiga.
He released SuperUser on Rephlex records in 2001 after his mate Chris Marshall played some Yee-King tracks he'd been given on a CD as a birthday present to Richard James, including the popular 'Goodnight Toby'. At the time, the album was well reviewed, including being awarded 'leftfield album of the month' in Musik magazine.
From 2001 - present, he has been involved in an improv duo with Graham Gatheral, 'Bavin'. Bavin supported Squarepusher on his 2006 UK tour.
In 2002, he played drums on tour with Cristian Vogel and Jamie Lidell's Super_Collider.
In 2004-5, he operated laptop and programmed MPC for Dani Siciliano's band, which included Max de Wardener and Tom Skinner.
From 2005 - present, he has played with Max de Wardener's band, along with Tom Skinner and Finn Peters.
From 2007 - present, he has played with Finn Peters' band, along with various players from the 'Fire Collective'.
Currently, he is working on Finn Peters' new project, 'Music of the Mind' as well as developing his livecoding skills, along with the signature MPC pad technique. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
