Young Artists For Haiti
Young Artists for Haiti is a supergroup of Canadian artists who came together to record a charity single, "Wavin' Flag", to benefit relief efforts following the 2010 Haiti earthquake. The song is intended to create more awareness in order to help rebuild Haiti. Haiti has been ravaged by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake on January 12, 2010 with over 230,000 people dead and most cities fallen to ruins.
In order of appearance, the soloists are: K'naan, Nelly Furtado, Sam Roberts, Avril Lavigne, Pierre Bouvier (Simple Plan), Tyler Connolly (Theory Of A Deadman), Kardinal Offishall, Jully Black, LIGHTS, Deryck Whibley (Sum 41), Serena Ryder, Jacob Hoggard (Hedley), Emily Haines, Hawksley Workman, Drake, Chin Injeti, Ima, Pierre Lapointe, Elisapie Isaac, Esthero, Corb Lund, Fefe Dobson, Nikki Yanofsky, Matt Mays, Justin Nozuka, and Justin Bieber.
Performing the chorus (including the soloists) are Arkells, Lamar Ashe, Broken Social Scene, Torquil Campbell (Stars), Canadian Tenors, Aion Clarke, City and Colour, Tom Cochrane, Jim Cuddy, Jim Creeggan (Barenaked Ladies), Kathleen Edwards, Dave Faber, Jessie Farrell, Colin James, Pat Kordyback (Stereos), Brandon Lehti, Colin MacDonald, Jay Malinowski (Bedouin Soundclash), Stacey McKitrick, Suzie McNeil, Stephan Moccio, Kevin Parent, Josh Ramsay (Marianas Trench), Red 1, Hayley Sales, James Shaw (Metric) and Shiloh.
The charity single was spearheaded by producer Bob Ezrin and was reworked from K'Naan's song to include specific lyrics for Haiti (including a rap solo by Drake) and was released on March 12, 2010 with proceeds going to Free the Children, War Child Canada and World Vision Canada.
