plus49
With their album opener “The Thin End of the Wedge”, plus49 could not have better described their start into 2007: Their songs are rotating on the radio, played as background music in news programmes and the köln bonn airport gong, which plus49 composed in 2003, has already gained cult status. Adding up the number of passengers over the last four years, about 50 million people must have heard the gong (track 15 on “More Beautiful Things”) and carried it all over the world.
While the band from Cologne are working on their new album, a new and revised edition of their debut album named “More Beautiful Things” will be released in March 2007. 30 songs in total, on an album and a bonus CD. Among them, of course, the new single “Rock On” and the plus49 classics “One Man Doing Yoga”, “One, Two...” and “You are my Keeper”. The bonus CD will feature unreleased songs and alternative versions as well as wonderful remixes of DJs such as Mike Litt (e.g. “Symbols and Gateways”, which is part of the Clubbers Guide to Ibiza 2006) and Canoma (whose remix of “One Man Doing Yoga” made it onto LTJ Bukem’s playlist).
On the homepage of plus49, www.plusvierneun.de, Brian Eno’s legendary sentence can be found: “You create a system in which your music works and then, you just let it happen”. With “More Beautiful Things”, plus49 created such a system. Pop intelligence for people without stereotypes, designed to transcend genre boundaries. For this, plus49 also have their own slogan: “It is music which is to be blamed for beautiful things.” So simple!
