Please note: There are multiple artists who perform under the name Metronome, including punk-rock, atmospheric, psy-trance and so on. This page メトロノーム refers to the Japanese rock band. メトロノーム (metronome) is a Japanese electro, punk-rock band formed in 1998.

They said they traveled through time from the year 2005 to the year 1998 to boost their record sales, thus their futuristic theme. As 2005 approached, though, they tried to pretend they never said this, and joked about it later.
Over 10 years, メトロノーム released many major-label singles and albums, a live DVD and 2 best of collections before announcing a indefinite hiatus in 2009.
In 2016, they announced on Twitter that would be resuming activities under a new record label and will release their first album since returning in 2017.
*There is also a Swedish artist that should not be directed here. His name is Henrik Nilssen and he's been making progressive psytrance since 1996. His musical influences comes from many kinds of musical styles, of course from other psytrance artists, but also from synth, rock and almost everything.* Read more on Last.fm.
