FOWL
There are two artists of this name, with different capitalization:
(1) FOWL is Noah Campbell and a basement full of instruments. Growing up in Northern Ontario in the small forestry town of Kapuskasing, entertainment was always what you made of it, never short on fascinating individuals. Preferring the drum kit to the hockey stick, Noah learned to improvise in a variety of styles, playing anywhere and with everyone that passed through town. Eventually learning piano, then bass, then guitar, by the time recording equipment was acquired, other musicians were no longer required! Multi-tracking himself on all instrument allowed for a unique form of free improvisation, where the same mind comments upon itself on various instruments, knowing what is coming note by note. What followed were various forms of an ever changing beast, ranging across genres wantonly, instruments falling where they may, commenting upon, or in contrast to what was played before.
Meanwhile, Noah’s penchant for playing anywhere, anytime, led him to a year long stint as the drummer for Toronto metal band Nice Cat, touring the northern US.
Playing a one off gig at the Waterloo Clay and Glass Museum.
Performing random improvised shows with Jake Neumann. Scoring the music for absurdist Mississauga based Ghostlight Theatre Group.
In November 2007, the first FOWL cd was independently commercially released (actually the seventh of MANY completed albums) entitled InaStorMental. A new band is currently being rehearsed for some select shows in support of the new CD release. Much more to come.

(2) FowL is a Detroit rapper and winner of Red Bull EmSee: Road to 8 Mile national finals in 2010. See excerpt below:
By GARY GRAFF
of the Oakland Press (Aug. 27, 2010)
DETROIT -- Eminem gave the thumbs-up to a fellow Detroit rapper on Thursday night (Aug. 26), crowning teenaged MC FowL the winner of the nationwide Red Bull EmSee: Road to 8 Mile national finals at St. Andrews Hall.
FowL (real name Saffal Tall) is an 18-year-old who recently graduated from Martin Luther High School and starts classes at Michigan State University next week. He took the competition -- which was judged by Eminem, his hype man Denaun Porter and DJ Alchemist -- by winning three rounds of rap battles with flows that not only insulted his opponents but also hyped the virtues of his home town, much to the delight of the partisan crowd that packed the club.
In the final round FowL -- who released a mixtape, "The Commencement," earlier this year -- handily defeated D.N.A. from Queens, N.Y., who surrendered after being shouted down by the St. Andrews audience. Asked how he felt about his victory, a broadly smiling FowL led the crowd through a couple of Detroit-related chants before saying, "That's about it."
As the contest winner, FowL will have the opportunity to record at Red Bull Studios in Santa Monica, Calif., with "a headlining producer" who has not been specified.
