Kayahan
Kayahan Açar, stage name Kayahan, (born in March 29, 1949 in Izmir, Turkey, died April 3, 2015 in Istanbul, Turkey) was a Turkish pop singer-songwriter, one of the consistently best-selling musicians in Turkey. He writes all of his own material and has released more than thirteen best-selling albums during a career spanning 40 years.
Kayahan was born in Izmir, on March 29th, 1949. He spent his childhood and young adulthood years in Ankara before moving to Istanbul.
The songs which were written and composed by Kayahan and sung by Nilüfer are some of most well-known Turkish pop songs. Throughout his career, Kayahan sang only his songs and each album of his had a different theme.
"Yoksun gözlü sevgilim", the very first album by Kayahan, was released in 1976.
In 1993, he released "Son Şarkılarım" which featured 10 songs all written by himself. That year he gave a concert in Kızılay, Ankara for an audience of 260.000. Two years later, Kayahan followed up with "Benim Penceremden". Two songs from that album ("Ben Anadolu Çocuğuyum" and "Allahım Neydi Günahım") were very popular and both covered by other singers later on.
His last album "Biriciğim'e" was realased on 8 March 2007. He currently resides in Istanbul.
